They are the people who bring us the news – of countries at war, rebel  strongholds,  life  under  dictatorships … the list is endless.
Our newspapers and television news are crammed with their reports and pictures of life in trouble hotspots. But all too often, the people behind the reports are just faceless names to their audiences – their own stories remain untold. Yet these are the people risking life and limb to get the news to us, to tell the world about the issues of the day, even if it involves putting themselves in the firing line. In today’s age of mass media and a much greater accessibility to worldwide news, these reports have become much more important than ever. Indeed, they have the power to change the course of events.

But with this increased hunger for news the world over, the pressure on reporters to go further than anyone else to get the latest story and uncover the most shocking truths is mounting. Many are paying a heavy price to satisfy the global thirst for the latest news. It seems the job of a frontline journalist is becoming ever more dangerous, and across the world, reporters, photographers and cameramen are becoming the targets for kidnappings, get caught in the crossfire between opposing sides, or simply disappear when their reports have become too uncomfortable for an authoritarian regime. This is no job for the faint-hearted.

This documentary series will follow in the footsteps of these fearless journalists to uncover the dangerous world they live in, and expose the effects of their high-octane jobs. This is a blunt and provocative look behind the scenes of the news, painting vivid portraits of the people behind the reports we read in our papers and watch on TV. People, who live for the moment and risk everything to bring us what we want: the ‘Dangerous Truth’.
